CALIFORNIA DAV MID-WINTER MEETING JAN 30-31 2009

The meeting is scheduled to begin on Friday, January 30 at 1:00 pm starting with the Claims and Service Commission Meeting.  Following will be Finance Committee Meeting beginning at 3:00 pm. 

We are honored to have our National Service and Legislative Headquarters Director of Volunteer Service to start the Saturday session starting at 0900 a.m.  He will be our keynote speaker at the VAVS Seminar which is conducted by VAVS Chairwoman, Delphine Metcalf-Foster (a Past State Commander)

The State Executive Committee Meeting will be held at 1:00 p.m. 

The Commander’s Reception will start at 6:00 p.m.

TROOP TREE

Tri Counties Blue Star Moms are doing a “Troop Tree” at the Yuba City Mall this Holiday Season and need your help.  The holidays are a difficult time for our Troops that are deployed or away from home and their families.  Tri-Counties Blue Star Moms want to honor our local Troops and Veterans by displaying the “Troop Tree” in a positive patriotic spirit.  The tree will consist of 5 colors:  Blue-current troops, Red-all veterans, Gold-KIA, Silver-wounded, Black-POW/MIA.  Each star will have a rank and name on one side and on the opposite a picture (preferable a close up in uniform).  They do not want to put anyone at risk, so if they have a sensitive duty please let them know and instead of a picture they will put the branch emblem. 

They need all of our help.  Show our Community our Troops and Veterans how much we love and appreciate their sacrifices.  Please begin submitting names and pictures by October 1^st through November 1^st.  Call 530 933-5214 if you have a list of names and pictures or you can submit them directly to  tcbluestarmom@sbcglobal.net.  Contact Missy Sanchez if you have any questions.

DAV MID-WINTER CONFERENCE - DOUBLE TREE HOTEL
SACRAMENTO, CA

On October 15^th we discussed our first meeting at 1:00 PM at Mel's Diner, 13399 Folsom Blvd., Folsom, CA, telephone number 916-985-7337. 

We discussed fundraising, greeting, transportation from/to airport for our Vets and entertainment.  The committee chair requested that all local chapters make  donations to support the convention and assist in identifying prospective business donors.
